You realise how much stuff you actually own and how often you use it when you have to move, which can be daunting when you have to pack it up to move to your new home.
To help with your long distance move, we have put together some useful tips to help make your move a little easier.
Create a moving kit that contains everything that you need to oragnise your move, e.g. clipboard for documents, packing tape, scissors, ruler, stanley knife, coloured paper (for labels), marker etc. Use a spare laptop bag, box or small travel case to hold your moving kit items.
Create a checklist of all the essential things to do before the move. We have put together various checklists, such as Moving Checklist, Moving to do list, items to sell, donate and trash list in our resources section that you can print and use.
Create an inventory of every item that is in your home that includes large and smaller items. The inventory list provides an easy way to make sure all your belongings go to your new home and is also useful to have on hand if you are looking to arrange a home contents insurance policy or an insurance claim.
